Having grown up near the capital city of London I always felt a sense of belonging within the hustle and bustle of a metropol; I sought after some design inspiration within my home environment and found neon signage as the typographical inspiration behind my thesis.

I became fascinated with the history of neon and how it was adopted into cities to create a vibrant and exciting atmosphere. Aligning neon with a sense of city identity became the contextual element of my research and I really delved deeply into the project.
I read into cultural theories of spacial environments, conceptual design theories, artist research and was even lucky enough to tie in a family visit the city of Chicago as a extensive "field trip".
A critical piece of literature I researched was Learning from Las Vegas by architect Robert Venturi and his team so just like him I wanted to visualise and showcase my research in a publication.
