Self Asset Branding Project 

Good Boy Barista is a new beach-front coffee stop rooted in the relaxed and uplifting spirit of a coastal lifestyle.
The brand story is deeply personal, centering on the special bond between the startup barista and his beloved golden lab, and the simple joy of their morning routine – frolicking on the beach before a day of serving coffee. The project evokes simplicity, joy in routine, being-at-one with nature - ideal for coastal-based customers needing that coffee hit whilst strolling around the shores.



Character Icon Development

The aim was for the character icon to be hand-drawn, imperfect and sweet, really evoking that "good boy" nature. The simple lines, illustrative style are intended to appeal to laidback and unfussy customers. The depiction of a dog wearing a cap was just a fun little element to personify the character and present that cool and chill attitude.

I went through a few scribbles and angles of the "Good Boy" character before settling on the above, as you can see the drawing became less harsh but more softer as I designed.
Colour Palette

I wanted a neutral but uplifting palette that represented the shores we have in the UK, sometimes blustery and sometimes sunny, hence the combination of light and dark. But also more literally the navy representing the sea, and the pale yellow conveying the warm tones of the sand, and finally the off-white mimicking the colour of sea foam and cold winds. 
Typography

Like with the icon, I was scribbled down the name in a few different styles to explore the fun and frolicking side of the frolicking companions. It's lighthearted and jovial, so after a few further explorations I settled on using the typeface,
Pain de Mie.
